A Rapid Phenotyping Method for Imazamox Resistance in Wheat Planta Daninha
BRECCIA,G.; BISIO,M.B.; PICARDI,L.; NESTARES,G..
ABSTRACT: The availability of imidazolinone (IMI) resistant cultivars has provided an effective option for weed control in wheat production systems. IMI herbicides control several weeds, including Avena fatua and Lolium multiflorum, which are the most frequent grass weeds in wheat crops of the Argentine Pampas. The aim of this study was to develop a soil-less method that allows rapid phenotyping of IMI resistance in wheat. Nine wheat cultivars differing in IMI resistance were evaluated through a between-paper germination method. Herbicide concentrations required to reduce shoot and root length by 50% for resistant cultivars were > 75 fold that of the susceptible cultivars. The response of resistant and susceptible commercial cultivars was assessed in...

Avaliação do tipo de substrato e do período de armazenamento para a germinação de sementes de Cordia glabrata (Mart.) DC. - DOI: 10.4025/actascibiolsci.v31i3.1013 Biological Sciences
Oliveira, Ademir Kleber Morbeck; UNIDERP; Alves, Felipe Fernandes; UNIDERP; Gadum, Juliana; UNIDERP.

Eucalyptus cloeziana seed count data: a comparative analysis of statistical models Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Michelon,Thomas Bruno; Taconeli,Cesar Augusto; Vieira,Elisa Serra Negra; Panobianco,Maristela.
ABSTRACT Generalized linear models (GLMs) are an extension of the linear model and include the normal, Poisson, and negative binomial distributions. Although GLMs were introduced in 1972, most seed technology studies, especially those involving count data, such as germination tests of seeds from the genus Eucalyptus, still using the analysis of variance, without analysis of the fit of other models. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the most appropriate model in the GLM class for seed count data of Eucalyptus cloeziana. Data were obtained from a germination test using seeds from three lots of E. cloeziana. Each lot was separated by sieving into three material fractions based on size: small (<0.84 mm), medium (from 1.18 to 1.00 mm), and large (>1.18...

Primary leaf growth and coleoptile length in maize seedlings Agronomy
Lopes, Camila Aparecida; Carvalho, Maria Laene Moreira de; Vasconcelos, Michelle Conceição; Ribeiro, Ana Maria Pereira; Santos, Heloísa Oliveira dos.
Evaluation of the physiological potential of maize seeds during the certification process is performed by a germination test. However, some tests show a delay in the growth of aerial seedling organs that does not reflect seed lot behavior in the field. This study aims to investigate the effects of genotype, water, light and temperature on differential primary leaf growth compared to coleoptile length in maize seedlings. Seeds from two simple hybrids and their reciprocal crosses that showed slow primary leaf growth were evaluated according to physiological quality, morphology, histochemistry, and enzymatic expression. There were differences among maize genotypes regarding initial primary leaf growth when compared to the coleoptile, especially when...

Temperatures and qualities of light in Niger ( Guizotia abyssinica (L.f.) Cass.) seeds germination in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil Acta Agron. (Palmira)
Baptista Gordin,Carla Regina; Quintão Scalon,Silvana de Paula.
Abstract For each vegetable species, there is a specific environment conditions to occur the seed germination process. However, there is a little information regarding the necessary conditions for Niger (Guizotia abyssinica (L.f.) Cass.) seeds germination. The aim of this research was to evaluate the influence of different temperatures and types of light on Niger (Guizotia abyssinica (L.f.) Cass.) seeds germination. Seeds were sown on two sheets of "germitest" paper inside plastic box type "gerbox" and placed on B.O.D. Treatments were constituted of two constant temperatures (15 ºC and 25 ºC, respectively) and an alternating temperature (20-30 ºC) under 10 hours for the lowest temperature and 14 hours for the highest temperature and they were associated to...
